Other than the weeks before Halloween, when is the greatest time to sell a haunted house? Consider the haunting Rhode Island house that provided inspiration for James Wan’s horror blockbuster, The Conjuring.

In the 19th century, an eight-acre farmhouse at 1677 Round Top Road in Burrillville, Rhode Island, was reportedly home to a witch by the name of Bathsheba Sherman. It was reported that after her death, she had cursed the area and sacrificed her newborn child as a sacrifice to the devil. In 1971, Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were paranormal investigators at the time, were enlisted by the Perron family, the farmhouse’s owners, to help them after they had several unexplained incidents.

One of the most well-known haunted houses in the country, the 3,000 square foot Harrisville residence is currently listed for $1.2 million through Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty. To profit from its esoteric ties, it rents itself out to intrepid paranormal investigators and amateur ghost hunters who hope to have a close encounter with the paranormal.
