The nearly 200-room abandoned house known as “Welsh Versailles” is up for sale for £750,000.The 173-year-old Kinmel Hall estate in Abergele, Conwy, North Wales, was “left to rot” before it was listed for sale a week ago.At the height of the real estate bubble, more than 10 years ago, the 500-foot-long property was listed for an astonishing £15 million.
Taking the lead in the fight to save the Grade I-listed hall is the advocacy organization Friends of Kinmel Hall.Eighteen acres of walled gardens around the mansion, which was frequently visited by Queen Victoria. The real estate firm Allsop only recently listed it for sale.
Queen Victoria had once been to the magnificent Kinmel Hall, which has over 200 rooms and is situated inside 18 acres of walled grounds.Unfortunately, water has seeped into the 80,000 square foot building, necessitating improvements to the entire estate that would cost tens of millions of dollars.The property is included in the Victorian Society’s annual list of most endangered structures.
