Michigan Central Station — A Look Through the Years

Looking north from the ramp that once led to the train tracks, one of the best views of the station’s bridge (the elevated walkway just south of the main concourse) could be seen, linking the southeast and southwest mezzanines.

On July 5, 2010, a photograph captured from the mezzanine level highlighted the grandeur of the main concourse, looking west. That same summer, another image taken from the bridge itself showed the main north entrance at the center, framed by the ticket windows on the left and the “Arcade” on the right.

Years later, in September 2017, Michigan Central Station experienced a revival of civic pride. For the first time in decades, the iconic building hosted a major public event: nearly 400 former Detroiters, along with local business and civic leaders, gathered for a dinner during the fourth annual Detroit Homecoming program.
